As a matter of fact, the various explorers are quite optimistic some fortunes located in this city. Economic and political motives are thus the main driving forces behind the activities of the various explorers associated with this moment of history. Political and economic supremacy since time immemorial, have always been the major aspirations of mankind and thus, it is worth to note that, these two factors contribute much towards most of the early explorations.Friar Marcos de Niza comes in as the first explorer in this discussion. Nizaà ¢Ã¢â ¬s mysterious journey forms the basis of his exploration history. Viceroy Mendoza sends him north from Mexico in the search for some wealthy cities rumored to be around the north frontier of New Spain in the year 1538 (Preston, 42). In the year 1539, he comes up with a report that declares the discovery of some cities-in a province called Cibola. However, Niza doesnà ¢Ã¢â ¬t get into the province owing to the fact that a companion is killed before the expected entry in the area. Claims from popular writers are that, Niza attests to seeing gold. However, that is disputable considering the fact that, the associated report doesnà ¢Ã¢â ¬t reflect it.Francisco Coronado is the second explorer that comes to mind whenever Coloradoà ¢Ã¢â ¬s exploration history gets mentioned. History at the early times has that there are rumors about the existence of a treasure in northern Mexico. Spaniards learn about this and thus, their next move is to send some expeditions in search of the treasure. Nizaà ¢Ã¢â ¬s lie about having seen a golden city sparks Francisco Coronado together with more than a thousand soldiers to make a move. They set out in an effort to find the seven historical cities of gold (Preston, 21). It frustrates them in a big way to find out that ther e were no gold mines. They return as broke men.Legends of gold and treasure play a pivotal role in making the south western United States history what it is at present (Innis, 223). Clamor for wealth presents itself as the major driving force for the various activities on man in history and in the present. Nations associated with great wealth seem to play a lead role in matters related to the economy globally. They earn more respect and most at times, their words are final thus, they may sideline the views of less privileged nations as they wish.
